When I learned about Colorful Spring, I knew it would be a perfect
extension of our Spring work.

Apart from a few sunny, warm days at the beginning of the month,
April
has been quite grey and dreary. I think that may be why the
children
enjoyed doing this project so much - it helped remind them of nicer
days
to come!

Thank you again for providing this opportunity to connect with
others. My class truly enjoyed the activities we did to create our
poem.

Thanks so much Marci for another wonderful Internet Project! We
read some really good spring books to get the students thinking
about spring colors. They really enjoyed writing their spring poems
and reading all the other poems that other students have written.
Thanks again for all your hard work on this project.
Sincerely, Mrs. Bonzer and First Grade

Colorful Spring was a "just right" project for my first grade class.
I just need to spend more time on the whole project. I don't know
where time gets away to. I am always too rushed.

One suggestion that might add another dimension to the
project is to link our name to our email address. That way we could
contact each other and let classes know that we enjoyed reading
their poems. My kids spent part of their computer lab time today
reading the poems that the classes created.
Another suggestion might be for you to create an
ongoing list of participants of your projects, so that when you
decide to do a new one you can contact those teachers to see if they
would like to participate in your project. I for one, love taking
part in your projects and would love to have notice about new
projects.
I enjoy the seasonal projects because the changing of
the seasons is always discussed as part of our curriculum.

Because my students and I had also participated in the Fall Is
Here! project, we felt very comfortable in working with the spring
project. The preparation time was considerably less, since the
children already were familiar with the poetry types. Although the
spring assignment for my students was very similar to the fall
project, we could explore so may different areas of the curriculum
that could be related to spring since we had less reason to learn
the poetry types.
My whole school is heavily involved with Accelerated Reader and
while I am in no way lowering the importance of the program, it can
be difficult to get students excited about literature that isn't
AR. Working on your projects has been very helpful in getting my
students to look beyond the AR value of books, and look for
literature to enjoy because, well, reading is fun!
Please keep me on your mailing list for future projects. I
enjoy participating!
Future Ideas: I don't want to run you ragged, but what about a
project per season, marking period (we're on a four marking period
schedule). Maybe a winter, back to school, summer project, etc.

I thought it was meaningful. Maybe we could add an email
component--where we pair up and write letter to another class?
Thanks.
